Environment and Energy
In its journey of serving customers in Vietnam, URC has always considered environmental protection as one of our top priorities. To materialize this commitment, we have established a comprehensive Environment, Health, and Safety management system (EHS) led by an experienced team.
PROTECTING THE ENVIRONMENT FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
We continuously strive for sustainable development in our company's goods by combining effective resource management, waste reduction, optimization of natural resources, as well as the limitation and replacement of activities that impact the environment.
URC's goal is not only to promote sustainable development in our business operations but also to commit to achieving a net-zero emissions target by 2050, aiming to build a circular economy and a cleaner, greener environment.
General System
We are certified and granted ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System since 2016 for our plants based in Binh Duong VSIP1 and Hanoi. ISO 14001:2015 maps out a framework that a company or organization can follow to set up an effective environmental management system. Applying ISO 14001 provides assurance to the management of corporates and their employees as well as external stakeholders for environmental impact is being measured and improved.
We follow the same consistent Environment, Health and Safety Management System in all our plants in Vietnam. All our plants have a dedicated EHS Officer, who shall generally report to the Plant Manager and functionally to the EHS Manager who is responsible to ensure full regulatory compliance and assist the Plant Manager in implementing improvement initiatives.
Currently, URC has been applying the "Zero landfill" model for all waste generated at factories with the goal of minimizing the amount of landfill waste. The company has signed with functional contractors to collect, process and recycle these types of industrial waste. Accordingly, waste products such as tea grounds and coffee grounds are 100% used as boiler fuel or recycled as organic fertilizer. All ash and slag will also be recycled into construction materials, sidewalk bricks, etc.
URC always strives to concretize its commitments, as evidenced by the fact that we have set a target of achieving 100% non-landfill waste by 2023. This is also considered a journey where URC Vietnam accompanies the community and the Government to implement Vietnam's commitment to net zero emissions by 2050 at COP26.
URC Vietnam factories, which typically use a lot of water, all have reverse osmosis filtration systems and reuse water from this system to optimize the amount of input water used and limit wastewater discharge, while avoiding loss.
Investing in wastewater treatment systems at all factories, URC is fully equipped with advanced equipment and technology to ensure that wastewater from the production process is treated before being discharged into the environment. . This process helps prevent wastewater from polluting the environment and ensures that discharged water is safe for the natural environment and public health.
With our unwavering commitment to wastewater management and water conservation, we understand that water is an indispensable precious resource and will continue our efforts to protect and preserve this water resource for future generations.
